Sean, In a series of instant message responses to my away message, which was simply "cake"
AIM IM with Sean Douglass.
12:21 PM
My good man, I must simply point out that "cake" is no longer a sufficient explication for the over 21 hours of absence and inactivity.
It does lead to some interesting cosmic questions however; can "cake" cause one to drift in and out of the space-time continuum, as an unfurled leaf drifting in the autumn zephyrs from arboreal habitat to arboreal habitat? Or is "cake" rather a state of being on some perpendicular plane to our own, in which one can tunnel into a new reality while abandoning the old one, only to resume the latter after having one's fill of delumptious and pleasing trifles such as hazelnut pudding, alderberry slices, and meadowcream pasties?
12:25 PM
Perhaps "cake" is actually a reference to that distinct alternate dimension, in which one becomes a mole, and samples some "deeper 'n ever turnip 'n tater 'n beetroot pie," and says things like "Bo hurr, Oi cudd gurtly enjoy a bowl o' that, oi cudd, yurs"
If so, I do hope the meadowcream pasty was delightful and in all ways pleasing, and that if indeed it suits you to stroll back into the balustrades of our glorious and most worthy establishment, you shall bring a pasty for me as well.
I do enjoy that meadowcream. Perhaps harvested from a glade, brook, glen, dale, or hedge. Or even an alder-filled thicket or vale.
I should really be working on Psychology.
I'm hungry, Patrick.
Bring me back some meadowcream pasties, please.

mood: enthralled
I have purchased a new copy of 'The Federalist Papers' and I find myself filled with great joy. Constitutional Theory lights my fire...
